This month we have decided to focus on one of our Physio’s – Catherine! These are her comments:
“My patient’s often ask me if I have ever had Acupuncture. Well picture the scene….
A few years ago a 6 foot blond physiotherapist was clambering up a multi storey soft play centre chasing her child. Just when her child was in reach she slid back down the ladders with a massive jolt through her knees and up into her back.
What started off as a small niggle progressed to a significant low back pain and sciatica. I lost power to my left lower leg and had numbness across the outside of my calf. Luckily there wasn’t a physio too far away in the form of Alison (my business partner). She tried Acupuncture to calm my symptoms and with amazing effect helped to control it.
With repeated Acupuncture my pain levels were manageable. I could still work, and the strength and function which was lost slowly came back with time, as the inflammation in my back settled.
Many people have acupuncture when nothing else seems to have worked. However, it can be very beneficial to reduce symptoms of pain and inflammation at the very early stages of injury.
I am happy to say that following this complaint it fully resolved with no reoccurrence”
